Mchimba the Embalmer
Kings' Rest · boss 2 of 4
There was once a caste of Zandalari whose purpose was to preserve and defend the remains of past rulers. But when a terrible plague of corrupted blood tore through the empire, it was too risky for mortals to handle the dead. Golems were summoned for the grim work of preservation and burial; they have been used ever since.
Someone gets sealed in a crypt and every wrong crypt opened releases a mummy. Listen for the struggling — that is them telling you which door.
A timed search. Entomb hides a player in one of the chamber's crypts and Mchimba starts opening the others, deliberately saving the occupied one for last; every empty crypt releases a Finished Mummy, and each opening happens faster than the last. Freeing the trapped player ends the ritual on the spot.
What actually kills you
Everything else is noise until these three are handled.
- Searching slowly. Open Coffin accelerates with every crypt, so the mummies arrive in a rush rather than a trickle.
- Ignoring Desiccation. Drain Fluids ends in a debuff that cuts damage and movement speed and lasts until that player is healed above 90% — it does not time out.
- Standing in Burning Ground. Burn Corruption puts fire under someone and it stays.
Your job
If you tank
- Every mummy released is another thing to pick up while the group is scattered looking for a crypt. Position where you can reach the whole chamber.
- Command Constructs is group damage plus Interment Constructs moving in to embalm. They need collecting too.
If you heal
- Desiccation is a healing job with a hard number on it: 90% health, or that player stays crippled for the rest of the fight.
- Explosive Acids fires during Drain Fluids and hits everyone near the target — the drained player should not be standing in the group.
If you DPS
- The trapped player can Struggle, which is audible. That is the mechanic — someone has to be listening rather than tunnelling.
- Free them and the ritual stops immediately. Every second saved is one fewer mummy.
- Awakening Slam opens crypts on its own and releases Half-Finished Mummies, whose Wretched Discharge is a disease on everybody.
How the fight goes
| Part | What to do |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | He drains and burns while Interment Constructs work the room. |
| Step 2 | Entomb seals a player. Mchimba begins opening crypts, empty ones first, each faster than the last. |
| Step 3 | Find and release the trapped player to end the ritual — or fight everything that came out of the other crypts. |

Worth a bonus roll?
You cannot roll this boss on its own. A dungeon roll is against the whole instance, so this table is one part of a pool that includes every other boss in Kings' Rest — the bonus roll guide explains what that changes, and the planner works it out per spec.
