The Lost Explorers

The Venomous Abyss · boss 3 of 8

Lore

A band of tortollans, possessed by spirits, have come to their senses near the sarcophagus of an ancient Soulcoiler. Trapped in the vault, they seek ancient artifacts to protect themselves from further possession by vengeful spirits.

In one sentence

A mind-controller is puppeting three explorers. Feed a fish to the puppet to break his concentration.

You are not really fighting the explorers, you are fighting Mor'zahi's control. Break it repeatedly and stop his final cast.

The controller is protected. Break his concentration with a fish. YOU PUPPET throw the fish controls The fish comes out of the thrown crates. Someone must watch for it.

What actually kills you

Everything else is noise until these three are handled.

  • Letting Final Ascension finish. It is the enrage — nothing survives it.
  • Ignoring the fish. Disgusting Fish comes out of Gebbo's crates and is the only way to interrupt Mor'zahi.
  • Stacking for Blink Nova. That one wants you far apart, not together.

How the fight goes

PartWhat to do
Break the controlFind the fish, feed the puppet, interrupt Mor'zahi.
Mor'zahi's CommandWhen you break control he spends all his energy to take it back — and the retaken puppet gets extra abilities. Expect the fight to change each time.
Final AscensionA slow, deadly channel. If it completes, you wipe. Break control before it lands.

Worth a bonus roll?

That depends on how many items on this table you still want. A boss owing two or more is worth returning to; one owing a single piece is a vault pick, not a roll — the bonus roll guide explains why, and the planner works it out per spec.
