The Lost Explorers
The Venomous Abyss · boss 3 of 8
A band of tortollans, possessed by spirits, have come to their senses near the sarcophagus of an ancient Soulcoiler. Trapped in the vault, they seek ancient artifacts to protect themselves from further possession by vengeful spirits.
A mind-controller is puppeting three explorers. Feed a fish to the puppet to break his concentration.
You are not really fighting the explorers, you are fighting Mor'zahi's control. Break it repeatedly and stop his final cast.
What actually kills you
Everything else is noise until these three are handled.
- Letting Final Ascension finish. It is the enrage — nothing survives it.
- Ignoring the fish. Disgusting Fish comes out of Gebbo's crates and is the only way to interrupt Mor'zahi.
- Stacking for Blink Nova. That one wants you far apart, not together.
Your job
If you tank
- Shredding Shards stacks vulnerability on you. Swap on it.
- Steady Strikes from First Mate Nama ramps the longer he hits the same person.
- Keep Nama away from Iku and Gebbo. When all three are near each other they gain United Defense.
If you heal
- Blink Nova hurts people who are CLOSE to Iku's target most. Spread, do not stack.
- Icebound Flames is huge if Iku is not interrupted — and the leftovers are dispellable.
- Splinters is self-inflicted. It only happens to people who stomp Gebbo's crates.
If you DPS
- Watch for a Disgusting Fish in the thrown crates. Throw it at the possessed tortollan — that breaks Mor'zahi's control.
- Frostfire Volley leaves fire and frost patches. Fire clears frost, frost clears fire. Walk the opposite element through them.
- Mighty Thud splits its damage between everyone it hits. More bodies in it, less damage each.
How the fight goes
| Part | What to do |
|---|---|
| Break the control | Find the fish, feed the puppet, interrupt Mor'zahi. |
| Mor'zahi's Command | When you break control he spends all his energy to take it back — and the retaken puppet gets extra abilities. Expect the fight to change each time. |
| Final Ascension | A slow, deadly channel. If it completes, you wipe. Break control before it lands. |

Worth a bonus roll?
That depends on how many items on this table you still want. A boss owing two or more is worth returning to; one owing a single piece is a vault pick, not a roll — the bonus roll guide explains why, and the planner works it out per spec.
