Nek'zali the Soulcoiler

The Venomous Abyss · boss 1 of 8

Lore

Long ago, the shadow hunter Nek'zali and her followers were entombed for the blasphemous act of summoning Ula'tek. Restored by the very power she unleashed, she calls the other Soulcoilers from their tombs to serve her once more.

In one sentence

Zombies walk to a well in the middle. Every one that reaches it hurts the whole raid. Kill them before they get there.

This is a stop-the-adds fight. Nek'zali herself is almost a distraction — the raid dies to things reaching the well, not to her melee.

Adds walk from the edges toward the middle. Kill them on the way. THE WELL anything that arrives = raid damage Kill them early on the path — they are furthest from the well there.

What actually kills you

Everything else is noise until these three are handled.

  • Restless Amani reaching the Soulcoil Well. Each one triggers a Soulcoil Rite that hits everybody.
  • Dying inside the well. If you die in the water you get Soulcoiled and feed her another Rite.
  • Ignoring Essence Rend. When it falls off you it leaves a Latent Cultist standing where you were.

Your job

If you tank

If you heal

If you DPS

How the fight goes

PartWhat to do
Stage OneKill the walkers. Do not let anything reach the well.
Intermission at 50%She hides behind an Echo of Jawae and takes no damage. Kill the Echo to break the tether and drag her back out.
UncoiledAt full energy she powers up permanently and cannot be taunted. Everything gets faster. Burn her.

Heroic vs Mythic

What changes on Heroic

  • Soulcoil Rite now applies Ritual Burn, which stacks and makes every later Rite hit harder. One add reaching the well is no longer a small mistake.
  • Killed Amani leave a Vessel of Awakening on the floor. During the ritual they get back up, stronger. Kill them away from where you will be standing.
  • Hungering Pyre appears in the intermission: a Slithering Flame chases someone and, on Heroic, explodes into Cremation when it expires.

What changes on Mythic

Nothing published beyond Heroic.

Worth a bonus roll?

That depends on how many items on this table you still want. A boss owing two or more is worth returning to; one owing a single piece is a vault pick, not a roll — the bonus roll guide explains why, and the planner works it out per spec.
