Xathuux the Annihilator
Murder Row · boss 3 of 4
Xathuux the Annihilator is one of Lithiel Cinderfury's most powerful summons. Although he loathes serving the warlock, he follows her commands for the sheer visceral joy of destruction.
The axe he throws is an add — it stacks damage on the whole group until it is broken. His rage is when he takes extra damage, so that is when you burn.
Two clocks running against each other. Demonic Rage is your burst window because it raises the damage he takes, but it also lays fel across the floor from his feet for a long time afterwards. Axe Toss meanwhile plants a stacking group-wide damage source that has to be destroyed.
What actually kills you
Everything else is noise until these three are handled.
- Leaving the axe. Fel Lightning hits everyone and stacks for as long as the axe is on the ground.
- Fighting where he walked. Burning Steps pools last far longer than the rage that made them, and the arena fills up.
- Legion Strike into a healing gap. It reduces healing received on top of hitting hard, so the follow-up is what kills the tank.
Your job
If you tank
- Move him during Demonic Rage. The pools come off his feet, so standing still paints the best ground in the room.
- Legion Strike's healing reduction is the dangerous half. Use a cooldown for the window after it, not the hit itself.
If you heal
- Fel Lightning stacks on everybody at once. The healing required rises the whole time the axe is up, which makes it a damage assignment you can shout about.
- Rage is a burst of Chaos on the group before it becomes a damage window.
If you DPS
- Swap to the axe immediately. It is worth more than the boss because it is the only thing whose damage compounds.
- Save cooldowns for Demonic Rage. He takes increased damage for the duration, and that is not true at any other point.
How the fight goes
| Part | What to do |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | He builds rage while Legion Strike works on the tank. |
| Step 2 | Demonic Rage: Chaos damage on everyone, faster attacks, increased damage taken, and fel trailing from his feet. |
| Step 3 | Axe Toss plants the axe. Fel Lightning stacks on the group until it is destroyed. |

Worth a bonus roll?
You cannot roll this boss on its own. A dungeon roll is against the whole instance, so this table is one part of a pool that includes every other boss in Murder Row — the bonus roll guide explains what that changes, and the planner works it out per spec.
