Dazar, The First King
Kings' Rest · boss 4 of 4
Dazar. The founder and first King of Zandalar, who led an exodus of his people out of the muck and mire and built a city of gold. The first tamer of raptors. The warrior undefeated. The father of a kingdom. His eternal repose cut short by Zul's dark magic, it lies to you to once again put him to rest.
He and his steed share every point of damage, so there is nothing to split. The fight is the floor: spears from the ceiling, gold from his swings, and two things that leap on you.
A pure execution fight. Eternal Bond means damage on either target is damage on both, so target priority is not a decision you have to make — everything that is left is avoidance, and there is a lot of it.
What actually kills you
Everything else is noise until these three are handled.
- Standing under Impaling Spear. It comes from the ceiling, hits hard, and leaves a bleed on everyone in the area.
- Melee range after Gilded Destruction. Searing Gold turns his ordinary swings into a wave of fire in front of him.
- Savage Maul stacks. T'zala's bleed also raises Physical damage taken, and everything Dazar does is Physical.
Your job
If you tank
- Blade Combo escalates within the cast — the last strike is far bigger than the first. Cool down for the end of it, not the start.
- Once he is mounted, Savage Maul's vulnerability stacks are the thing that decides whether the next Blade Combo is survivable.
If you heal
- Gilded Destruction is group-wide Fire with a burn after it. It is the scheduled damage.
- Deathly Roar fears the group. Expect people to run somewhere unhelpful and to need topping up when they come back.
If you DPS
- Aerial Smash and Quaking Leap both damage everyone at the landing point. Watch where they are going, not where they are.
- Reban's Hunting Leap lands on someone and follows with cone attacks. Whoever it jumped to should turn it away from the group.
How the fight goes
| Part | What to do |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Dazar fights on foot with Blade Combo, Gilded Destruction and spears from the ceiling. |
| Step 2 | Reban joins with Hunting Leap and a fear. |
| Step 3 | At the health threshold he mounts T'zala. Savage Maul and Quaking Leap replace the footwork, and Eternal Bond keeps the two health bars tied together. |

Worth a bonus roll?
You cannot roll this boss on its own. A dungeon roll is against the whole instance, so this table is one part of a pool that includes every other boss in Kings' Rest — the bonus roll guide explains what that changes, and the planner works it out per spec.
